LAS VEGAS (AP) - A newspaper poll finds Nevadans oppose a ballot measure that could change the way the state's judges are selected.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Monday that 59 percent of the 625 registered Nevada voters surveyed last week said they would vote against Senate Joint Resolution 2 on the November ballot.
Just 28 percent said they favored of the resolution, with 13 percent said they were undecided.
The measure would have the governor appoint judges from among candidates selected by a Commission on Judicial Selection. Judges would have to stand for retention election.
The statewide survey was conducted by Washington, D.C-based Mason-Dixon Polling & Research. It had a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
