The Dayton Food Bank will move to a new location on Friday, but still has no electricity, said Christy McGill, director of Healthy Communities Coalition.
The food bank is moving after Lyon County officials scheduled repair work on the food bank's current location, the Dayton Community Center. Work is expected to start on the building soon and will not be completed until next year.
While their new location, 10 Enterprise Road, adjacent to Highway 50, does not have electricity, the food bank is receiving water courtesy of Lyon County Utilities, McGill said.
Their new location is temporary, she said.
"So what we want to do is find a more permanent home, which some of those expenses can be paid for, such as a church or another county building," McGill said.
The food bank will give away food from 2 to 5 p.m. today from the Dayton Community Center, 170 Pike St.
