RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Republican Assemblyman Ty Cobb of Reno is apologizing after a witness reported seeing him destroy a campaign sign belonging to Democratic Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie.
Cobb tells the Reno Gazette-Journal he was "goofing around" Friday night after leaving a Nevada Bighorns Unlimited dinner when he kicked the sign on a street corner.
A witness who attended the same dinner said he was stopped at a traffic light and saw Cobb get out of the passenger side of a car, walk up and start kicking the sign.
When contacted by the newspaper, Cobb admitted to the incident and offered to pay Leslie for the sign.
Cobb and Leslie are seeking different Senate seats in this year's election.
