The vacant Kmart building in North Carson City may have a new owner soon, said Realtor John Mulder of Premier Realty on Thursday.

But details about the sale of the 170,000-square-foot building in the North Town Plaza shopping center, which has been vacant for about seven years, are not available yet.

Cypress Equities, a Dallas-based equity company, bought the building in 2006 for about $6.7 million, but a new tenant for the property never materialized. The Wilmington Trust Co. of Delaware owns the underlying land.

Meanwhile, two businesses that were located in the adjacent shopping center have relocated.

Nevada Blue Ltd. moved in January and Eagle Fitness moved to a new location in March.

"It was strictly that the owner of the plaza would not negotiate a lower lease and we were trying to cut our costs," said Judy Brooks, co-owner of Nevada Blue Ltd., which produces blueprints and other graphic designs. "There had been a drop in traffic once the Kmart closed; we needed the help."

Nevada Blue's new location is 280 E. Winnie Lane.

Eagle Fitness is now located at 3242 Research Way.
