A Reno man surrendered to police Friday in a year-old assault in which he and two women allegedly ambushed and beat a Carson City man who met with them to sell a computer battery.

Eshoo Ashurdan Eivaz, 32, also known as Dan Eivaz and Dan Boleniu, turned himself in Friday on a warrant charging felony robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary. The charges were later reduced to misdemeanor battery. Eivaz was released on $2,000 bail.

According to the arrest report, in March 2009 the victim sold a laptop on Craigslist to Eivaz for $175.

Eivaz allegedly picked up the laptop with the understanding that the battery didn't work, police reports state.

The victim said he told Eivaz that he had a battery on order and he'd be willing to sell it when it arrived.

When the battery arrived and the victim was unable to contact the buyer, he posted it for sale on Craigslist and was contacted by a woman who agreed to meet him at the Straw Hat Pizza in South Carson, the report states.

When the victim was inside the restaurant talking to the woman and a female friend, Eivaz allegedly appeared and assaulted the man. The trio then fled with the battery.

The victim suffered lacerations to his head and face from being punched and slammed into a door.

In January, Erika Lamb, 38, was arrested in relation to the case.

Gardner said the charges were reduced to misdemeanors after questions arose about the ownership of the battery.

"We have conflicting

e-mails and postings - some of which indicate an understanding that the defendants were the owners of the battery as part of the original purchase price, and some of which suggest the defendants would have the option of buying the new battery once it arrived," Gardner said. "Instead, we have elected to prosecute both defendants for misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor theft charges in a bench trial before the judge. If convicted, they will face sentences of up to six months on each count."
