A Virginia City man remained in custody Tuesday, jailed in the alleged sexual assault of a "preteen girl," according to police.
Shawn Eric Alexander, 31, was arrested April 14 on suspicion of two counts of felony lewdness with a child and one count of sexual assault.
According to Storey County Assistant Sheriff Gerald Antinoro, Detective Melanie Keener received a sexual assault report and contacted Alexander the same day.
During the interview, Alexander allegedly admitted to committing the offenses and was arrested.
Antinoro said the sexual assaults happened over an 18-month period.
Alexander is being held in the Storey County Jail pending his arraignment in Justice Court. Bail was set at $150,000.
