Figure skating exhibition at Tahoe

The Tahoe Figure Skating Club, which includes Carson area skaters, is hosting its annual "Skate Into Spring" ice skating exhibition Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the South Tahoe Ice Arena, 1176 Rufus Allen Blvd. Admission is free.

The event will feature local and regional skaters performing their favorite programs in preparation for upcoming competitions. Remember to dress warm.

Heavenly, Kirkwood to wrap up season

An excellent season for Heavenly and Kirkwood Mountain Resorts comes to a close April 25.

"We're expecting to end the season with great snow conditions and possibly even a powder day or two," Heavenly spokeswoman Ami Xistra said.

For the final weekend Heavenly be open with operations out of the gondola only. The Gondola, Tamarack, Dipper and Sky chairlifts will all be open with skiing and riding on 38 trails, 1,900 acres and in two states.

The frontside of Kirkwood. Chairs 5, 6, 7 and 10 will be open on the final weekend. Chair 1, which accesses a beginners' run, is closed. Kirkwood's website reported its seasonal total snowfall at 414 to 527 inches.

Hike above Washoe Valley on Sunday

Sierra Club Hike will host a hike 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the Jumbo Grade Shuttle in Washoe.

The hike will follow the ridge lines from U.S. Highway 395 on the north to the Jumbo Grade Trail Head. It includes some great views of the Washoe Valley and Lake and Slide Mountain.

The hike is 10 miles with less than a 1000 ft gain. For more information, call 775-315-6763.

'C' Hill hike planned Tuesday

Muscle Powered Walk will host a hike up "C" Hill in Carson City 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday Carson City.

Meet the group leader in the parking area off Curry Street opposite the Railroad Museum and the old cottonwood tree.
