Tap Room set to open with live music

Doppelgangers will celebrate the opening of a new restaurant, the Tap Room, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, May 1.

The Tap Room offers patio-dining with hearty food and exceptional beer from Doppelganger's on-site brewery.

The Bar BQ Boys will present live music from 6-9 p.m.

New ballroom dance class starting Sunday

A new 12-week class in ballroom dance will start up Sunday at the Genoa Town Hall.

Larry Ward, with 55 years experience in dance, will instruct the class for adults and teenagers. Signups will be taken at the first two classes on May 2 and May 16 (no class on Mother's Day May 9).

WNMTC to present 'The Sound of Music'

Tickets are now on sale for the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most beloved musical, "The Sound of Music."

This acclaimed musical will play weekends May 7-16, at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays and May 15.

The story is embellished by some of Broadway's most beloved numbers, including "Climb Every Mountain" and "Edelweiss."

Maria Arrigotti plays the postulant Maria opposite August Stoten as Captain von Trapp. Jim DeZerga is the lovable but conniving Max and Mitzi Nelson is von Trapp's fiance, Elsa.

Some 40 performers complete the cast, accompanied by a 14-piece professional orchestra. Gina Kaskie-Davis is the choreographer.
