Get your tickets early for the special Mother's Day performance of country star impersonator Sherrill Douglas at the Carson Nugget.
Douglas, who's March appearance sold out days in advance, will present "Once Upon a Dream ... Loretta and Patsy Together Again" at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 9 in the second floor banquet area. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Loretta and Patsy were best friends in real life, so it's only seems natural for Douglas to offer the ultimate concert today showing what it would have been like "back then" to see Loretta and Patsy together, in the same concert.
This new imaginary concert portrays these two powerhouses in one concert, one show, by one woman. You will be amazed as Douglas opens the show impersonating Loretta Lynn. After intermission, she returns and transforms into her portrayal of Patsy Cline.
Douglas started singing Patsy Cline songs when she was 10 to entertain her dad and his buddies.
Lately, Douglas has been recording a new album featuring songs from both Cline and Lynn.
Her stage look alone is so realistic that photos of Douglas as Cline have been posted on a Patsy Cline fan site.
"I figure if they can confuse the photos, I must be doing something right," said Douglas in a March interview.
"Physically I don't think I look like either one of them, but with the wigs, make-up and costumes, the transformations are realistic," she said. "And since I've been singing Patsy's songs for so many years, she's like an old friend and I don't think about it anymore.
"I know where her breaks are, how long she'll hold a note, her movements ... I feel like she's given me permission to do this."
Douglas relies heavily on audience participation as a way to make the experience even more real to them.
"I like to bring the audience in as close to me as possible so that they feel like they've gone to see Patsy in concert," Douglas said. "This show brings back a lot of memories for people and I hope by the time they leave, we'll have made new memories together."
"In Once Upon a Dream," Douglas begins the show showcasing Lynn's hits such as "Coal Miner's Daughter," "Fist City," "You Ain't Woman Enough," "Don't Come Home a Drinkin'," "One's on the Way," "Blue Kentucky Girl," and more. The second set showcases favorites from Cline such as "Crazy," "Sweet Dreams," "I Fall to Pieces," "Walkin' After Midnight," and even more.
Sherrill Douglas' show pays tribute and honor to two of America's most beloved country legends.
