TACOMA, Wash.- Reno rallied for three runs in the ninth to take a short-lived lead, but a Tacoma run in the bottom of the ninth sent the game into extra innings, and a Tommy Everidge walk-off homer in the 14th gave the Rainiers an 8-6 victory over the Aces at Cheney Stadium.
Reno trailed by two runs entering the ninth, but Carlos Corporan would tie the game with a two-run home run to right-center. Doug Deeds would follow with a double and came across to score two batters later, capitalizing on a Tacoma throwing error with two outs in the inning.
In the home half of the ninth, the Rainiers battled back to even the score. Jack Hannahan smacked a run-scoring single that would knot the score at six and push the game into extra innings.
Reno and Tacoma would trade zeros over the next four frames before Everidge ended the proceedings with a two-run blast off Jose Marte in the bottom of the 14th inning.
Marte (0-2) took the loss after surrendering the walk-off home run, and Brian Sweeney (1-0) earned the win after holding Reno scoreless over the final 4.1 innings.
