LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a teenage robber who was hit in the head with a baseball bat during a botched heist at a North Las Vegas convenience store has died.

North Las Vegas police Sgt. Tim Bedwell says investigators learned Sunday that the injured 17-year-old from Henderson died at University Medical Center.

The name of the teen hasn't been made public. Bedwell says he may have been a Russian citizen.

Bedwell says his death appeared to have been a result of the head injury received in the 2 a.m. July 21 confrontation.

No charges have been filed against the 52-year-old store clerk.

Police say the teen wielded a replica handgun and demanded money and cigarettes before being hit with the bat at the store on Ann Road near Clayton Street.
