What's at the farmers markets this week?

The Downtown Farmers Market occurs from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.  Saturdays. Thirteen local, Nevada farmers regularly participate in the  market that takes place in the parking lot at 3rd and Curry streets. Greenhouse Garden Center hosts weekly seminars at their location. Call 882-8600 for a schedule or stop by and get a schedule at its location 2450 S. Curry St.

This week is National Farmers Market Week. At the area's farmers markets, be on the lookout for a few Hearts of Gold melons (early birds will get them), finally some Nevada tomatoes and delicious Yellow Doll watermelons plus Armenian and lemon cucumbers. We are at the height of the season right now so everything is in.

Farmers Markets:

• Downtown Farmer's Market at 3rd and Curry streets, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 11. Live music today with Shepherd Darquea Aug. 7.

• Pony Express Pavilion Farmer's Market, 3-7 p.m. Wednesdays, Pony Express Pavilion at Mill's Park.

• Dayton Farmers Market, 3 p.m. Thursdays, Community Roots, #60 2nd Ave. & Hwy. 50, Dayton.

• Lampe Park Farmers Market, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.

• Minden Farmers Market, 4-7 p.m. Tuesdays through September on Esmeralda Avenue. Live music.

• Virginia City's Farmers Market. 3-6 p.m. Thursdays, Miner's Park, next to the Senior Center, Virgina City.
