The following information applies to the period of Aug. 9-15:

As a result of the next phase of the NDOT project on the freeway:

• Valley View Drive has been permanently closed between Edmonds Drive and Line Drive.

• Koontz Lane will be closed between Raglan Circle and Edmonds Drive until January.

The Roop Street widening project is continuing and is expected to be completed by the end of 2010. The following impacts are expected this week:

• Beginning Monday, Hwy. 50 East/William Street will have intermittent lane closures at Roop Street. A single-travel lane may be restricted from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for eastbound traffic or a single-travel lane may be restricted from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for westbound traffic.

• Hwy. 50 East/William Street will be closed at Roop Street from 6 a.m. Saturday through 5:30 a.m. Monday for underground utility construction. Traffic will be detoured at Stewart Street and Saliman Road. Local business access will be accommodated beyond the detour to the closure at Roop Street.

• Roop Street is closed to through traffic from William Street to Robinson Street. This closure is expected to last until early September. Local business traffic and patrons of the Carson City Community Center will have access to Roop Street via Washington Street. Washington Street will have intermittent lane closures under flagger controls with minimal delays.

• The reconstructed parking lot for the Carson City Public Library at 900 N. Roop St. is scheduled to open Wednesday at 10 a.m. Prior to Wednesday, patrons of the library can utilize parking at the Smith's grocery store at 559 E. William Street.

• The intersection of Caroline Street and Roop Street will be closed to through traffic through early September. Traffic may cross Roop Street at Washington Street.

• Roop Street is closed from William Street to Stewart Street through the completion of the project. Traffic may cross Roop Street at Corbett Street and at Long Street.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is working to add a third northbound lane on Hwy. 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive. The following activity is expected for this project:

• Beginning Monday, Lupin Drive at Clear Creek Road will be closed for the reconstruction of that intersection. Business access for the south end of Lupin Drive will be provided from Hwy. 395 at the existing signal; business access north of the Clear Creek intersection will be provided from the north off of Synder Avenue.

• Monday through Wednesday, traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction at the Lupin Drive/Clear Creek Road and Topsy Lane intersections with Hwy. 395 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., as NDOT will be installing new traffic signal systems at those locations. Signals will be under flagger control at this time.

• Work continues with single lane closures on northbound Hwy. 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Shoulder work will continue during the daytime hours with no impacts to traffic.

Tuesday through Thursday, the inside lanes of North Carson Street, near the intersection with Hot Springs Road, will be closed in each direction from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. due to work in the median.

The inside lane on South Carson Street will be closed between Clearview Drive and the Spooner Junction in both directions during the night hours of 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., due to work on the median. Aug. 15, lane closures will begin at 7 p.m. and remain closed until 6 a.m. the following morning.

Monday, work will be conducted on Robinson Street just east of the Carson Street intersection for water utility improvements. Traffic will be controlled with flaggers. Minimal delays are expected.

Due to water utility improvements, the following closures are expected to occur:

• Butti Way will be closed between Airport Road and Fairview Drive (local traffic allowed) on weekdays. Detours will be marked.

• Fairview Drive will be reduced to a single lane between Butti Way and the 5th Street round-about with flaggers on weekdays during daytime hours. Minor delays are expected.

• Hells Bells Road between Riparian Way and Parkhill Drive will be closed to through traffic (local traffic allowed) all week. Detours will be marked.

The following closures will occur due to special events:

• Proctor Street will be closed between Curry Street and Carson Street Friday from 7-11 p.m.

• Third Street will be closed between Curry Street and Carson Street on Friday from 2-11 p.m.

• Fourth Street will be closed between Curry Street and Carson Street on Saturday from 3-10 p.m.
