An artist performance and reception will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. today for Dominique Palladino, who's conceptual sculptures "Distilled" will be on exhibit through Sept. 22 at the Nevada Arts Council as part of the Office eXhibition Series (OXS).
In Distilled, Palladino uses salt as a means to explore and depict growing ideas of division, loss and abandonment in relationship to hierarchical gender roles. By using the salt in different states - dense, evaporated and distilled - he creates a lineage of existence where a continuous slow extraction ultimately results in the absence there of, a distillation.
The OXS gallery is located in Nevada Arts Council office at 716 N. Carson St. (intersection of Washington Street), Suite A, in Carson City and is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 775-687-6680 for details.
