Charges of burglary and embezzlement have been dismissed by the Lyon County District Attorney's Office against a Silver City man arrested in May as he kept watch over a train at the Mound House depot.

Lyon County Deputy District Attorney Lynn Rivera said Wednesday she dismissed the charges in July against Lars Hansson because of a lack of evidence.

Hansson, 57, was arrested on May 12 when a Carson City deputy found him sleeping in his vehicle near a V&T locomotive at the Mound House station. When questioned, Hansson said he was watching the locomotive as a favor to a friend who had rented the steam engine for use in a film.

According to the arrest report, a check of Hansson's name returned with a Lyon County warrant for burglary alleging Hansson stole tools and misused about $200 belonging to man for whom he built a carport and dormer.

Hansson said Tuesday he was never a "handyman," as alleged in the criminal complaint, but a professional carpenter.

Hansson said he is pursuing criminal and civil sanctions in relation to his "false arrest."
