Help celebrate 75 years of State Parks in Nevada with a Festival of the Springs on Saturday.

Lyon County Healthy Communities Coalition, Silver Springs Youth Organization Underage Drinking Prevention, and Lahontan State Recreation Area are hosting a day of games, food and contests ending with a roaring campfire.

This event at the Lahontan State Recreation Area will start with games at 9 a.m., including a fishing contest. Also scheduled is a sand castle building contest, a dunk tank, "Win it in a Minute" games and, of course, a campfire sing-a-long. Games end by 4 p.m., but campfires will run into the night.

To get to the recreation area, use the Silver Springs entrance, located 45 miles northwest of Carson City on Highway 50 East, then turn west on U.S. 95A to turn off on Fir Avenue to the entrance.

The park entrance fee is $7 per vehicle. There are fees for the fishing contest and some of the games.
