Sandra "Sandy" Lee Hutchins, passed away on Aug. 9, 2010, in Gardnerville. Prior to her retirement from Ben's Fine Wine and Spirits as co-owner, she resided in Reno for 40 years. Sandra was born Jan. 17, 1937, in North Manchester, Ind., to Clarence and Phyllis Westafer. Sandra is survived by husband, L. "Hugh" Hutchins, of Genoa. They engaged in the most loving marriage on July 3, 1969, in Virginia City.
Sandra dedicated her life to her family and business. She touched the lives of many through her acts of kindness. She was forever giving support, advice, wisdom and thoughtfulness as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and employer. She was the elegant lady behind the doors at Ben's for more than 30 years. She will be dearly missed by all who were touched by her comfort.
She left on earth to carry her special traits, son and daughter-in-law Jack and Kathy Rupley of North Manchester, Ind., son John Rupley, Palm Bay, Fla. Daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Randy Roget, Valley Springs, Calif.; stepson and wife Michael and Michele Hutchins, Missoula, Mont.; and stepdaughter Cindy Hutchins, Reno. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren were her most cherished.
Sandra left the request to have a private service among family members to spread her ashes among the angels. Sandra also requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association Northern Nevada Chapter, 705 South Wells Ave., Reno, NV 89502-0969.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home.
