A $240,000 grant proposal to create a preliminary design for the narrowing of Carson Street between John and Stewart streets will be presented to the Carson City Board of Supervisors Thursday.

The purpose of the Community Challenge Planning Grant is to encourage planning that coordinates housing, economic development, transportation and environmental goals and policies.

The narrowing of Carson Street is expected to help the capital improvement program for downtown Carson City and would help implement the goals and policies of the Carson City Master Plan.

A 20 percent match is required for the grant, which will be funded jointly through the Carson City Redevelopment Authority and the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission.

A $100,000 grant proposal would be used for creating a specific plan and zoning for Fairview Drive mixed use corridor. A 20 percent match is also required for this grant.

Other items on the Thursday agenda include:

• Public right-of-way abandonments.

• An amendment to an engineering contract for the Saw Mill Canyon Pipeline.

• A contract award for Carson City Public Works for a solar voltaic system.

• Adoption of a water bond ordinance and a sewer bond ordinance.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors meets at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Go to www.car
