LAS VEGAS (AP) - Officials with the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation say emergency extended jobless benefits have been reinstated for most eligible claimants.
During a news conference Wednesday in Las Vegas, agency officials also announced Internet filing for some extended benefits is now available and should relieve long telephone wait times.
There were 56,000 claimants affected in Nevada when emergency extended benefits expired June 2. Congress reinstated the program July 23. Since then, agency officials say 51,000 people in Nevada have had their benefits reinstated.
People who still need to file for the emergency extension and those who need to file weekly claims can now do it over the Internet at www.expressclaim.org.
But agency officials say anyone receiving state extended benefits must still call and speak with a claims representative.
