(AP) - Two Nevada groups will receive a combined $26 million in federal recovery grants to build or expand broadband Internet systems.

The Nevada Hospital Association will receive the biggest sum, $19.6 million, to build and operate a statewide medical network that will link 37 health providers statewide.

The hospital association says the network also will have capacity for public safety agencies, schools and tribal governments.

Another $7.1 million was awarded to the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe to bring broadband service to its members.

The grants were among $1.8 billion in stimulus awards announced Wednesday by Vice President Joe Biden.
