Monday is Carson City Day at the Reno Aces, and Mayor Bob Crowell will throw the ceremonial first pitch before the game.

The Aces will play the Tacoma Rainiers, AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners club.

Purchase either a $9 right-field reserved or a $12 outfield reserved ticket, and a portion of each ticket purchased will go toward the new Carson City Library fund.

Gates open at 6:05 p.m. and the game begins at 7:05 p.m.

Tickets are available online at renoaces.com - use the special code "carsoncity" - or call 334-7021. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. In addition, a company that purchases at least 20 tickets may qualify for name recognition on the scoreboard.

The Friends of the Carson City Library bought 20 tickets and sold them all at last weekend's book sale at the Carson Mall, said Library Director Sara Jones, and the CPA firm of Martin & Jones bought 20, which they donated to a raffle for the kids who participated in the end-of-summer reading program.

"The kids were really excited about that," Jones said.

The Reno Aces are trying to broaden their reach, Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell said, so when he went to tour the park two or three months ago, he met with the general manager and was invited to toss out a first pitch.

"I didn't do so well then, so I've been working on it," Crowell said.

He has since had the opportunity to throw the first pitch at a Wildcats game and at Little League regionals, so he said he is looking forward to redemption at Monday's game.

Library Director Sara Jones said ballpark promoters were looking for a charity to help on Carson City Day.

"They knew we wanted to build a library, and this will give us some nice little seed money," Jones said.

The Aces will present Dog Days of Summer during Monday night's matchup. For $25, fans receive two general admission tickets, admission for one canine, an Aces dog leash and the opportunity to participate in a pregame on-field parade.

"It should be an awfully fun night for everyone," Jones said.
