Carson City investigators and the FBI are searching for a bank robber who hit the Mutual of Omaha bank at Carson and William streets on Friday afternoon.

According to Carson City Sheriff's Detective Bob Motamenpour, the bandit walked into the bank's east doors about 12:30 p.m. and slid a note to a teller declaring "this is a robbery."

Though no weapon was shown or mentioned, the teller gave the man the contents of her drawer and he left through the west doors, crossing lunchtime traffic on Carson Street, said Motamenpour.

He wore a red T-shirt with AC/DC on it, and a picture of band member Angus Young swigging from a bottle. He also wore white tennis shoes with a green stripe.

Surveillance footage shows him hurrying through the bank's front parking lot with a dark colored backpack over his right shoulder.

A man arrested at White Cat Antiques on North Curry Street about 4:30 p.m. is not related to the bank robbery, said Detective Dave Le Gros late Friday night. The man's name was not immediateluy released, but he is believed to have been involved in a number of burglaries recently, Le Gros said.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect from surveillance photos is asked to call Carson City's non-emergency dispatch number at 887-2007.

Carson City Secret Witness will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals committing crimes.
