LAS VEGAS (AP) - A newspaper reports that Democratic Sen. Harry Reid and Republican rival Sharron Angle have agreed to their first debate, on Oct. 14.
The agreement reported Saturday by the Las Vegas Review-Journal comes a day after the Nevada Broadcasters Association canceled a debate between Reid and Angle because they couldn't agree on a date.
One concern from Reid's campaign had been that the Democratic majority leader couldn't guarantee his attendance on certain dates because the Senate might still be in session.
Broadcasters association President Bob Fisher says Oct. 14 was agreed by both sides after a third party suggested it. It is two days before early voting begins and a week after the Senate is scheduled to adjourn.
Both campaigns told the Review-Journal the candidates eagerly look forward to the debate.
