The fate of a middle school shop teacher who allegedly threatened school district employees will be decided at the Sept. 14 Carson City School Board meeting.

Trustees decided Tuesday to postpone the decision.

Wayne Phillip Haack, 61, an Eagle Valley Middle School teacher, was arrested in November on suspicion of gross misdemeanor threats to a school employee.

According to the arrest report, Haack was angry after a meeting about a "pay issue" on

Nov. 5.

"As Wayne walked towards the front door of the school district office, he pulled out a knife and stated to a receptionist, 'For the money I won't make, I could hire a hit man,'" Deputy Scott Davis wrote in the arrest report at the time.

The report stated that Haack and a union representative met with Associate Superintendent Jose Delfin.

When Delfin allegedly asked Haack if he had made the statement, Haack allegedly stated he did, and showed Delfin a box-cutter type knife.

Police were called, and Haack was arrested at the school.

Haack was placed on paid administrative leave while an internal investigation was conducted.

A closed-door hearing will be conducted into the personnel matter in two weeks, then the decision will be made during the open meeting that will follow.
