When we last heard from Carson High junior Alex Fallon, she was in the midst of unfortunately an unsuccessful effort to reach the state track championships in the triple jump.

Fallon is now an exchange student in the town of Hjorring, located on the northern tip of Denmark.

Fallon is doing well, according to her father Kevin, a middle school teacher in Carson, and the Carson High boys tennis coach.

"She went to language school for two weeks, and now she is at a college prep school," Fallon's dad said. "She's doing well and transitioning into things. Her Danish is getting quite good."

Fallon is currently playing team handball, and she will be trying to hook up with some nearby track clubs.

Fallon is on facebook, and no doubt she would love to hear from her friends in the Carson City area.

Former Carson High soccer star Brandi Vega scored her first goal of the season in a 2-1 loss to Long Beach State at the Aggieland Invitational.

Vega's gola tied the match at 1. The loss dropped the 21st-ranked Cougars to 1-2 on the young season.

At haltime of Friday's football game at Carson, I bumped into Coy peacock, father of former Carson defensive back Josh Peacock.

The younger Peacock, according to dad, has assumed the starting safety spot when the senior in front of him suffered an ankle injury.

It appears that flashy sophomore point guard Andrew Johnson, an all-Sierra league pick last season, has transferred to Hug High School in Reno.

That's a huge blow to Carson's basketball program. Along with Brian barnes it would have given Carson one of the best backcourts in Northern Nevada.

What makes me angry about this is that the Carson coaching staff gave Johnson, who had a lot of off-court issues, multiple chances to be part of the program. I'm sure that Bruce Barnes and assistant coach Carlos Mendeguia feel they have been wronged by the talented youngster.

For those of you who didn't attend Friday's football game against Del Campo, you certainly missed a nice start by the Senators.

The defense, despite missing some key components from last year's Sierra League championship team, allowed just 10 points and blanked Del Campo for the last 17 minutes.

The offense had its ups and downs, especially without tight end Tyler Collins and center Danny Gall. There were several procedure penalties along the front line which didn't make coach Blair Roman very happy.

One thing is very apparent, the Senators need to devise some ways to move the ball without Dylan Sawyers. The talented junior running back was boxed up the entire first half before breaking loose for a 78-yard kickoff return, a 9-yard TD and a 55-yard TD in the third period.

Carson has a bye this week which gives the Senators two weeks to iron out the kinks before visiting North Valleys for their 4A opener.
