Gillis' Whiskey Spring, Part I: Sixteen years ago, Steve Gillis, now a compositor on the Enterprise, went on a prospecting tour in the mountains. Accompanying him were John I. Ginn and Rufus Shoemaker. These men had heard all sorts of wonderful stories about the mineral springs to be found in the Sierra mountains, and Gillis had supreme faith in finding a mineral springs used by the Indians for its remarkable curative qualities, while others prospected for gold alone.
