August 5, 1953 - November 29, 2010

James David Duncan was a Carson City and Dayton resident for 54 years. On the morning of Nov. 29, Jim took his own life after many years of battling the devastating disease of alcoholism. He was 57 years old. Jim was a loving, caring, kind, gentle and compassionate man. He is preceded in death by his mother Jeannie Duncan, his son Jesse, his grandparents and many friends who also lost their lives due to alcoholism.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sherry Duncan; his adoptive father, Walter Duncan; mother-in-law Jenny Lange; sister-in-law Colleen McKinney; niece Taylor McKinney; niece and nephew Sara and Brian Breiter; and two beautiful little great-nephews, Hayden and Alex Breiter. He also left behind many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, honor Jim's memory by not letting this disease touch your life or the life of someone you love. If one life is saved, Jim's death will not have been in vain. Jim will be cremated at FitzHenry's Funeral Home on Saturday Dec. 4. If you wish to gather with Sherry at the funeral home, please feel free to do so from 1-2 p.m.

I love you in a place where there's no space and time

I love you for my life, you are a friend of mine

And when my life is over, remember when we were together.

We were alone and I was singing my song for you ...

Lyrics by Leon Russell

Love, your wife, family and friends
