Xmas shopping spree to include all ages

A holiday shopping spree for needy children in Carson City has been expanded to include middle and high school students.

Carson City Sheriff's Detective Dena Lacy said initially this year's Holiday with a Hero shopping event was going to focus solely on elementary school children, but after a meeting of the board, they have expanded it to all ages.

Donations still are being sought to provide $100 gift cards to 150 of the city's neediest children, said Lacy.

Thus far the group has received $4,200 in donations and there are only three weeks left until the event.

All cash donations can be dropped off or mailed to the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser St., Carson City, 89701. Write "Holiday with a Hero" in the memo field.
