SCHOOL: Carson High Senior

YEAR: Senior

SPORT: Basketball

Q: What are your favorite sports, and how did you get started playing?

A: Volleyball and basketball. I started playing volleyball in the seventh grade. I had never played before, but it looked like a lot of fun, so I tried out and have been playing ever since. My older brother used to play basketball, and my family would go to his games. One day my mom tried to get me to play, but I didn't want to, so my mom bribed me with a toy. She said if I tried, she would buy me any toy I wanted. So I tried it, and have been playing ever since.

Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?

A: Kerri Walsh and Misty May Treanor. I think they are amazing at beach volleyball. I love watching beach volleyball, and I think Walsh and May make a great team.

Q: What has been your most thrilling moment in sports?

A: My most thrilling moment was this year in volleyball. We beat Reed in five games to move on to the semifinals of zone. Earlier in the year we lost to Reed, but when it mattered most we did what we had to do. It was such a great match and very nerve-wracking.

Q: Do you have a role model, and why is he or she your role model?

A: My parents are my biggest role models. They have always been there to help and support me, and I know they will continue to be there for me. My dad coaches me in my sports and gives me great advice, while my mom is there being my cheerleader and supporting me.

Q: Do you have a teammate you hang out with away from school and why?

A: I have many teammates I hang out outside of school. We always have to have our weekly Girls Night Out.

Q: Do you have any hobbies, and if so what are they?

A: I love sports and staying active. Besides that, I really enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the beach and of course shopping.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: That's tough. I'd probably have to say chicken and anything with chicken in it. I also really like pasta, especially my mom's spaghetti.

Q: What is the last non-academic book you read?

A: Well, "Pretty Little Liars" of course. I love the series.

Q: Who is your favorite musician or group?

A: I really don't have one a favorite. I pretty much like all music and will listen to anything. I do enjoy listening to the radio and singing along

Q: After graduation, where do you plan to attend college and what are you looking at as a major?

A: I plan to attend BYU. I want to teach high school math and also coach either volleyball or basketball at that school.

Q: Do you have a favorite TV show?

A: Wow, I have many fave TV shows. My top five are Family Matters, Secret Life, Make It Or Break It, Pretty Little Liars and Wipeout.

Q: Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people.

A: I'm really close with all my friends. They are like family for me. They know everything there is to know about me, so I don't think there is anything I could say about myself that would surprise them.
