Christmas Tree Fantasy offered

Carson Plaza retirement community invites the public to its Christmas Tree Fantasy, a holiday celebration, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 2120 E. Long St.

Local vendors will showcase decorative trees and guests are invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments, holiday music and a visit from Santa between

11 a.m. and noon.

Santa Day at the children's museum

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada hosts its annual "Santa Day at the Museum" from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

Families can enjoy hot chocolate, candy canes and crafts while letting the kids get acquainted with the new exhibits and layout at the museum.

Admission is free to museum members or $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for kids. For more information, call 884-2226.

Holiday Harmonies concert Saturday

Holiday Harmonies, a concert of Christmas music presented by the Chorus of Comstock, a four-part a cappella barbershop-style chorus, will be at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Capital Christian Center, 1600 Snyder Ave.

Symphony giving holiday concert

The Carson City Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, presents the 27th annual Holiday Treat concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center.

The Symphony will be joined by the Carson Chamber Singers, directed by Judy Monson. Pre-concert entertainment by the symphony's Strings in the Schools youth ensemble begins at 3 p.m. in the lobby. The groups will join together for the Holiday Treat tradition, "A Christmas Singalong," for orchestra, chorus, and the audience.

Tickets for the concert are $15 general, $12 for seniors, students, and Symphony Association members, and free for children age 16 and younger. Hear jazz and poetry for the holidays

The Mile High Jazz Band and vocalist Sheryl Adams will be joined by Rita Geil and other award-winning poets for an evening of big-band jazz and poetry 8-10 p.m. Tuesday at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street. The theme of the evening, "Stocking Up," relates to the holidays and to life.

Poets/readers include Rita Geil, Terri Breeden, Krista Lukas, Susan Sara Priest, Tracy McQuay, and Lee Warner.

General admission is $5 at the door, and free for ages 18 and younger. Swing dance instruction is offered from 6-7:15 p.m. for $5 additional.

'Alice in Wonderland, Jr.' continues

Wild Horse Children's Theater production of Disney's "Alice in Wonderland, Jr.," continues at 7 p.m. today, Saturday and Dec. 17; and 4 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Dec. 18 at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St.

The play features a cast of 82 young actors and includes elements of both the familiar Disney animated film as well as the more modern off-kilter movie by Tim Burton.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students and $ 5 ages 4-12. Children 3 and younger are free if they sit on a parent's lap. Tickets can be purchased on line at www.wildhorsetheater.com or call the Wild Horse office at 775-887-0438.
