130 YEARS AGO

(Continued from Sunday) Going over the battle ground, Mr. Gilbert heard how over a hundred whites came to Pyramid Lake. Only 30 left alive. The Indians led Gilbert over the ground showing him where this man or that man had been killed. It was hardly a fight as some six hundred Paiutes faced 100 whites. From the lake to Wadsworth it was a slaughter. They claimed some 46 were killed on the ground, or were wounded and crawled to the ravines where they perished. (Continued Wednesday).

100 YEARS AGO

Yesterday morning the local jail was cleared of its last prisoner. Last night the cells were empty and the room in darkness. It was the first time in many months that this had been the rule. The last two drunkards placed under arrest promised to leave the city for good and were taken at their word. The boys in the jail feel lonesome without regular boarders.

70 YEARS AGO

The report that George Roy's Royal Chrysler coupe, stolen from a local garage had been abandoned on Peckham Lane near the Virginia Range, was investigated by officers, but it was determined that his machine had been stolen again before their arrival.
