A Carson City man who attacked his sleeping brother with a motorcycle chain was sentenced to probation and drug court on Tuesday.
Michael Putz, 27, was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of 12 to 36 months, with probation and drug court for attempted battery causing substantial bodily harm.
Putz, a welder from Carson City, was arrested after he beat his sleeping brother with a chain. According to the arrest report, Putz kept
police at bay for about an hour. Officers shot him with bean bag rounds and he also was bitten by a K-9 during his arrest.
Also before Judge Jim Wilson on Tuesday:
• Bradford Warren Stone, 29, was given a suspended prison sentence of 12-30 months, up to five years probation and must attend drug court on a charge of possession of stolen property.
• Anthony Strohm, 19, was sentenced to 90 days in jail suspended and one year probation on a gross misdemeanor charge of attempted theft. Surveillance cameras captured Strohm stealing a GPS from a vehicle parked at Walmart. Two days later, he was located and arrested.
• Sommer Leigh Wesselmann, 33, was given up to three years probation on a charge of gross misdemeanor attempted larceny. She threatened a 16-year-old boy with a knife in September.
Wesselmann approached the boy and his mother and asked for 50 cents to make a phone call. The boy reached into his pocket to retrieve 50 cents, but also brought out $50 in cash. Wesselmann reached for the cash, then removed a folding knife from her pocket and pointed it at the boy, who fled with his mother to call for help.
• Andrew Woodburn, 31, was sentenced to 12 to 32 months in prison suspended and up to five years probation on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He and another man were spotted in August in a shopping center parking lot preparing to inject heroin.
• Christopher Mikesell, 28, was sentenced to 12-36 months in prison on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
• Marina Karine Lockhart, 33, pleaded not guilty to battery and domestic violence with a deadly weapon. A trial is set for Feb. 14.
According to the arrest report, Lockhart, a deli clerk from Carson City, allegedly struck her husband with her car and tried to run him over a second time before fleeing. He suffered minor injuries. The argument was allegedly over a pack of cigarettes.
