Holiday with a hero

This event is extremely special to me and it continues thanks to detectives Dena Lacy and Dan Gonzales and the Carson City Sheriffs' Department. Holiday with a Hero program is assisting amazing children selected from the Carson City School District through the Children in Transition program. It is an uplifting once-in-a-life-time event to help children in circumstances that are beyond their control. I'll be there from 9 a.m.-noon. Please join me. It will truly make your Christmas. One year I helped a high school-age student who quietly asked if he could come back later with his family to purchase food. That is the point of this program; it allows the child the great opportunity to give from the heart.

Foster CARE Children need Christmas too

Christmas is usually a special time being with your family. But for some area children under the care of the Division of Child and Family Services, it can be a very difficult time of year. With the help of several local businesses you can assist a child in foster care. Really, there is nothing more rewarding then to see a child get something they want when there's no way they expect to have that special something under the tree.

ADELE'S COOKIES WITH SANTA

At the annual Christmas luncheon for Carson Soroptimist, instead of purchasing gifts for each others, members purchase toys to donate to Ron Wood Family Resource Center for the annual Toys for Tots Program. Instead of doing a gift exchange at your parties, have your guests purchase a toy and donate to assist a child's Christmas. Or check out Adele's "Cookies with Santa." What a great idea to help local children have a brighter Christmas.

THANK YOU! Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who dropped off food at the annual Share Your Holidays Food Drive. Seeing the generosity from so many people within the community, I was again so impressed. Thank you for kind hearts.
