Nevada to receive $605K in DirectTV settlement

(AP) - Nevada will receive $605,000 as part of a multistate settlement with satellite television provider DirectTV.

Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto on Wednesday said the company also has agreed to pay restitution to consumers and accurately disclose its pricing in the future.

Forty-nine states and the District of Columbia raised the allegations. Nationally, the company has agreed to pay $13.25 million.

Masto says consumer complaints were received over pricing, contract durations, automatic renewal of seasonal sports packages and billing credits that were advertised as "cash back" offers.

Masto says consumers who complained about practices after Jan. 1, 2007, may be eligible for a refund. They should contact the company at www.directv.com/ag or call 1-800-DIRECTV. Consumers can also call the AG's consumer protection hotline at 702-486-3132.
