A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 2 p.m. today for the reopening of one of the city's busiest streets. Following the ceremony, the traffic control barriers will be removed, and North Roop Street will be opened to public travel.
North Roop Street closed between North Stewart and William streets in late January. The $4.1 million project came from a combination of RTC and utility funds.
The ceremony will take place between William and Corbett streets. Officials will be joined by representatives of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and representatives of the private sector firms, which participated in the design and construction of the road, said Transportation Manager Patrick Pittenger.
To access today's ceremony, attendees are asked to park on John Street or on Corbett Street, as North Roop Street will remain closed until the ceremony is complete and the traffic control barriers are removed.
