LAS VEGAS (AP) - A government watchdog group wants federal prosecutors to release the findings of a recent investigation into Nevada Sen. John Ensign.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Wednesday that Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has sent letters to the Department of Justice and FBI seeking all records that would answer why criminal charges will not be filed against Ensign.

The Republican announced earlier this month that the Justice Department would not charge him with crimes stemming from the fallout of an extramarital affair with his campaign treasurer.

The Senate Ethics Committee is still investigating whether Ensign broke the law in an attempt to hide the affair.
