(Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau) - Matt Griffin has resigned as elections deputy to Secretary of State Ross Miller, a post he has held since Miller won his first term in office four years ago.

Griffin said he was leaving to re-enter private law practice with the Capitol Company.

"During his tenure as elections deputy, he oversaw what were probably the two most closely watched elections in the state's history - the 2008 presidential election that generated record voter turnout and the hotly contested 2010 U.S. Senate race," said Miller. "We will miss his wit and wisdom, and are grateful for his service to the State of Nevada in this very important capacity."

He will join his brother John and partner Russell Rowe at Capitol Company, a law firm that specializes in government affairs.

Miller has not yet named a new elections deputy.
