Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval on Wednesday announced his final cabinet level appointments, keeping one existing director and naming four deputies to replace their retiring bosses.

Michael Fischer will remain as head of the Department of Cultural Affairs, a post he has held four years now.

Fischer practiced dentistry in Gardnerville for 31 years before taking over at Cultural Affairs. He has a long record of involvement in historic preservation and history studies.

Deputy Director of Public Safety Chris Perry will take over from Jerry Hafen and Deputy Corrections Director Greg Cox will take over that department from Howard Skolnik.

Cox came to Nevada from Illinois in 2003 and has served as warden both at High Desert and Southern Desert state prisons in Nevada.

Perry rose through the ranks of the Nevada Highway Patrol, becoming the Colonel in charge four years ago.

Finally, David Gustavson will become head of the Department of Information Technology, replacing Dan Stockwell, who also retired.

Gustavson has held several IT leadership roles during his career, including at Microsoft, before joining state service.
