(AP) - Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons says President Barack Obama is making the right decision to zero out funding for the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump.

Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Sunday said the president's budget will propose withdrawing a license application and all funds for Yucca Mountain.

Gibbons, a first-term Republican seeking re-election, has often been critical of Reid for saying Yucca Mountain is dead while the licensing process continued.

The proposed site 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas has been targeted for 20 years to house the nation's high level nuclear waste.

Reid says Obama will appoint a commission to consider dealing with the nation's nuclear waste.

Democratic Reps. Shelley Berkley and Dina Titus of Las Vegas also hailed Obama's funding cut for Yucca Mountain.
