Robber hits another Carson gas station

For the second time in two weeks, a man armed with a crowbar robbed a Carson City gas station.

Just before 3 a.m. Thursday, a man entered the Jackson's Texaco at Saliman Road and East Fifth Street, Carson City Sheriff's Capt. Ken Sandage said.

The man greeted a customer playing a slot machine, then went behind the counter and pried open two registers while the clerk was in the back mopping.

When the clerk spotted the man, he "sauntered" out the west doors and walked away with the cash and three

cartons of Marlboro cigarettes, said Sandage.

The customer on the slot machine asked the clerk if she wanted him to "go get him," but the clerk opted instead to call 911, Sandage said.

Two weeks ago, the Jackson's gas station at Rand Avenue and Highway 50 East was also robbed in the same way.

"The M.O. is the same, but the clothing was different," said Sandage.

In both cases the robber made off with a pittance compared to the penalty of two to 15 years in prison for a felony conviction for robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male, 140 to 150 pounds, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8. He was last seen heading west on Fifth Street.
