LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will decline invitations to greet President Barack Obama and attend his public events unless the White House assures him Obama will clarify comments he about Las Vegas and excessive spending.
City spokesman Jace Radke said Thursday the mayor hasn't accepted White House invitations because he isn't satisfied Obama will backtrack after mentioning Sin City twice during town halls.
Goodman called Obama a "slow learner" this month after the president suggested people saving money for college shouldn't blow it in Las Vegas.
Last year, Obama said corporations accepting federal bailout money shouldn't use taxpayer funds to take trips to Las Vegas.
