CASA training starts Monday

CASA of Carson City will start a new training of CASA Advocates, 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Carson City Juvenile Court. CASA Advocates serve as guardian ad litem for children in state custody through child welfare court case due to abuse or neglect.

Being a CASA advocate requires patience, caring, research, writing and follow-through. There are training, background checks and interviews required. Training will be 10 weeks, once a week for three hours. Future sessions will be scheduled at this first class. For more information call 882-6776 or see www.casaofcc.org

Tickets available for 'Nunsensations'

Seats are now available for the special Sunday showing of "Nunsensations: Viva Las Vegas" at the Brewery Arts Center's Black Box Theater.

Space is also available for the dedication following the performance to dedicate and rename the theater the Maizie Harris Jesse Theatre.

Harris Jesse is a long-time Carson City resident and supporter of local theater.

Forty tickets for the

2 p.m. performance are being released. Cost is $18 general admission and $15 for seniors, students and BAC members.

Tickets to the show and the gala dedication are are $60. Cocktails start at

4 p.m. in the ballroom, with the dinner and dedication

at 4:45 p.m.

RPEN to hold meeting on Tuesday

Retired Public Employees of Nevada will meet at

2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center on Beverly Drive.

The guest speaker will be Elinor Berger, who will talk about her trip to Nepal.
