Amateur radio license testing sessions have moved to a quarterly test schedule beginning this year because of the small number of candidates seen last year.

Testing remains on the second Saturday but now every third month, beginning in March. The remaining 2010 schedule will be: June 12, Sept. 11 and Dec. 11.

The sessions begin at

8 a.m. and will continue until everyone has finished testing. If no candidates show up by 10 a.m. or so, the session is closed unless other arrangements have been made.

Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcome. The exam fee for 2010 is $15. If paying by check, make payable to ARRL-VEC.

The testing site is located at 8755 Cimarron Trail (the intersection of Cimarron and Apache) in Silver Springs. Take Apache north from Highway 50 approximately one mile to Cimarron. Signs will be posted from Highway 50 to the site.

Those upgrading an existing license should bring the original license and a photocopy of that license as well as the originals of any CSCEs. Remember to bring photocopies as there are no copying facilities on site, and testing is not allowed without all the paperwork.
