A former Carson City man frequently seen around town dancing on street corners on his bicycle was shot and killed in Oakland just before Christmas.

Darnell Jamar Foster, 35, was shot by an unknown assailant inside a Kentucky Fried Chicken about 4:30 p.m. Dec. 23, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Calls to the Oakland Police Department were not immediately returned Tuesday.

According to the Tribune, the shooting happened after a dispute outside the restaurant.

Carson City Sheriff's Depart-ment records indicate Foster, who had run-ins with the law that included drug arrests, had lived in Carson City since 2006.

He could be seen sitting on his three-wheeled bike at intersections around town. He appeared to be talking to himself, but on closer inspection, it was apparent he was dancing to music on his headphones.

Foster refused repeated attempts by the Nevada Appeal for an interview.

"I'm a private person," he said one day last year as he sat on his bicycle at the roundabout at Fifth and Fairview drives.

The Tribune reported Foster, a father of six, had recently moved back to the Bay area.
