LAS VEGAS - Cost-cutting layoffs have begun in Clark County.
Officials say 67 Development Services Department workers got the bad news Friday morning. Most of the laid-off workers were building inspectors. Their boss, Ron Lynn, says they are casualties of the downturn in the construction industry.
Lynn says more layoffs in his department are certain if the construction doesn't pick up.
Clark County faces a $70 million budget gap this year, and predicts a $100 million shortfall next year.
