A 73-year-old grandmother was arrested Thursday for allegedly giving her grandson the same type of drugs he overdosed on in August.
Annette Ibsen was booked into Carson City Jail on two felony warrants for supplying controlled substances and dispensing a controlled substance without a prescription. She was released on her own recognizance.
A toxicology report revealed Jeremy Steven Williams, 24, had lethal levels of methadone and alcohol, and smaller levels of oxycodone and diazepam in his system when he died at his Carson City home on Aug. 18. Methadone and oxycodone are opiates, while diazepam is a sedative or relaxant.
The death certificate lists the cause of death as overdose.
Detective Capt. Ken Sandage said that during the investigation into Williams' death it was discovered that Ibsen may have provided her grandson with the drugs for recreational use.
Sandage said that in a search of Ibsen's home, officers allegedly found prescriptions in her name for methadone, oxycodone and diazepam.
Williams' mother Kendall Buscay said she didn't believe her mother gave any pills to her son.
When asked if she thought Williams had taken them from his grandmother without her knowing, Buscay said, "I don't know, but the family believes she's innocent. We don't believe she gave them to him."
