Meeting planned for pageants
The Miss Carson City Scholarship Program and The Miss Douglas County Scholarship Program will host an informational meeting for the 2010 pageant at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Round Table Pizza Parlor located at 961 Topsy Lane by Bank of America.
The programs invite young women between the ages of 17-24 to participate. They must be at least a graduating high school senior this spring and never been married or pregnant. Parents are welcome at this meeting.
There also will be a Miss Outstanding Teen Program offered. Students 13-17 years old can attend this informational meeting to get details about the local title.
The programs are part of the Miss America Organization, which is one of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local programs made available more than $45 million in scholarship assistance.
