RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada gas prices have climbed 12 cents since last month to a statewide average of $2.85 per gallon - the highest it's been in more than a year.

The January average matches the price reported on Oct. 30, 2008.

AAA Nevada spokesman Michael Geeser says the increase is due primarily to a run up in oil prices and with the continued weakness of the U.S. dollar.

Nevada's biggest monthly was in Sparks where the price jumped 19 cents to $2.95. Reno increased 17 cents to $2.93 and Las Vegas a dime to $2.80. Elko is up a nickel to $2.83, Carson City up 6 cents to $2.88 and Henderson up a dime to $2.82.

The highest price in the Lower 48 states is $3.30 at Tahoe City, Calif.
