The Storey County Sheriff's Office is requesting help in identifying a body discovered on the banks of the Truckee River in 1995.
Lt. Ken Quirk said in a news release that the remains were discovered by a hunter on the south bank of the river near Patrick just off Interstate 80.
"The remains are believed to be those of a white male, between the ages of 28 and 30, and 5-feet 9-inches to 6-feet-1-inch tall. Based on the investigation, it is believed the deceased could have entered the river further upstream during the spring flood of 1995," Quirk said in the release.
He said the Washoe County Medical Examiner ruled the death a "probable drowning/accident."
"While there is no evidence of foul play in this case, the Sheriff's Office would like to identify this individual and provide closure to any family or friends," Assistant Sheriff Gerald Antinoro said in the release. "It is our hope that by disseminating this information again, someone will remember something that allows us to identify this person."
