SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Brandon Medders and the San Francisco Giants have avoided salary arbitration, agreeing to a one-year contract worth $820,000.

The right-handed reliever was 5-1 with a 3.01 ERA and one save in 61 games last season, when he made $475,000. The deal was completed before Friday's deadline for eligible players to file for arbitration.

Medders is 16-7 with a 3.36 ERA in 196 major league games. He pitched for Arizona from 2005-08 before joining the Giants last season.

Three of San Francisco's key pitchers remain in arbitration after filing on Friday: two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum, closer Brian Wilson and left-hander Jonathan Sanchez.
